Term of Office: October 10, 2023 to October 9, 2027.

Ms. Poonam Vijay Kumar Maharshi is currently serving as a Member of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was appointed as a Member of the Commission after securing Third rank in the competitive selection process of Maharashtra. A position she assumed on October 10, 2023. Her term is set to continue untill October 9, 2027.

Prior to this appointment, she served as a Member of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Thane, beginning in 2018, where she contributed significantly to the resolution of consumer grievances with fairness and diligence.

With a strong academic foundation, she holds a B.Com, LL.B., and a Government Diploma in Cooperation and Accountancy (GDCA) from Nashik. She further advanced her legal education by earning an LL.M. from Pune and specialized in niche areas of law through prestigious postgraduate diplomas — a PG Diploma in Patents Law from NALSAR University, Hyderabad, and a PG Diploma in Consumer Law and Practice from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.

Ms. Maharshi began her legal career practicing at the District Courts of Nashik and Pune. In addition she has attended training programs and conferences and has delivered lectures on consumer laws at various educational institutions.

She brings to her role not only sharp legal acumen but also a balanced and thoughtful approach to dispute resolution, shaped by her diverse educational background and rich experience within the consumer justice system.
